A former Super Eagles skipper and number one goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, has expressed confidence in the ability of the national team to deliver the Russia 2018 World Cup ticket as well as the AFCON 2019 ticket.
Rufai said the current momentum in the Eagles informed his confidence, adding that the players and the technical crew have displayed the ability to excel in the two competitions.
“I am not losing sleep in these two competitions. We have all it takes to excel and make Nigerians happy.
The players have recorded a good start and it is left for them to consolidate.
“Nigeria has a solid team and keeping the present momentum no team can stop the Super Eagles” he said.
Dodo Mayana, as he is fondly called, had 65 caps in the Super Eagles colours and he noted that Manager Gernot Rohr and the players were on the right path.
“I believe in Rohr and the players as recent events have shown that they are very capable of putting smiles on our faces.”
He also advised the Super Eagles to take every match in the Nations Cup qualifiers as important as that of the World Cup.
“They should play the Nations Cup with the same form as the World Cup in order to get great results in the two competitions.
We cannot afford to miss the Nations Cup again and so it is important that the team should start well,” he added
